Judging The Sanctified

I wore a red dress to your baptism
To celebrate the death of a treacherous fiend
And the birth of the alleged angel poised inside of you
I tore it off when I realised
Water doesn’t transform souls
Just polishes them up
So that we fare better in the hands of others
– or worse.
