If nothing else, let this be true
… that the best don’t leave
-until they are finished.
That the gentle, the well-meaning
live forever
That the feared, the wrathful, the destructive
combust into self-ignited flame,
fall to the ground in an insignificant pile of atoms
never to be experienced again in this universe or another.
If nothing else, let this be true
… that life in the next world is just,
… that the best folk don’t die
-until they are finished.
And that the finished
are the ones who die last.
