I had never seen the colour green
So he told me what it’s for:
To bloom from that which we promised,
To fume with envy when luck walked by
in favour of another.
I had never seen the colour green
So he pulled up a said-to-be-emerald screen
Said,
“Imagine the world were brand new:
Not yet punctuated by inventions and brain stew
But only a medley of ‘oh the possibility’
and ‘you don’t need to know’.
Imagine the world were born again
And you could be more than my best friend
Thatβ¦
That would be the colour green.”

I have read and written poetry for three decades, and, wow, this is a remarkable poem. I love the images, structure, and diction. I normally eschew rhyme, but you use is naturally, effectively, and creatively. A pleasure to make your acquaintance.
