Don’t say,
“If only someone told me!”
as if you’d have listened.

-should your run have been neat, tidy,
beating effortlessly on cue
you’d have wished for more adventure,
more intrigue with which to adorn your history,

yet that intrigue has never been cheap;

you could have paid for it with your life

-in squandered years, a thousand cuts, 6 feet.

Don’t wish you’d been different.
You could never have been anyone else
back then.
you only have who you are now,
in the present
And she’ll do
if only you learn to see her.
