Closure

No.
No need to rehash the past,
to hear an apology,
to roll out punishment,
to unload my side of the story
in order to move on.

Close the door behind you
silently or otherwise.
Our actions,
they speak for themselves.

There doesn’t have to be a halo
innocently hovering above your head
and over your certificate of official change.

We don’t need to cause each other more misery
for the necessary decisions to be made.

Instead,
we’ll seize the day
before the reaper’s scythe falls.
We both know
closure is a myth.
