We’re not adults.
We are phantoms of our former child-selves, built up over the years because you are supposed to be good to children, then torn down over time because that’s what you do when they look older.

Tebogo, you pack so much truth into these seven words: “We are phantoms of our former child-selves.” Could this be the effects of “space-time” –past, present, and future as one –as Einstein called it?

What a thought. I hadn’t thought of it that way. But it could be, right? That the distinction of past, present and future is a “stubborn illusion”? In a way (from a non-scientific point of view), we are who we’ve been, who we are and who we will be all at once. And those things are only a matter of the order in which things were done and the decisions made in that order. Otherwise, we can always be depended upon to be who we truly are underneath all the pretense. And, maybe, we are born who we truly are. Instead of being molded into it by culture and upbringing. The latter are just a cover to help us function in society, maybe… And now I’m going off to read about the effects of space-time/the Einstein perspective of past, present, future.

I’ve found a video on YouTube that, at some point, mentions the issue of time in a very enlightening, also comforting way. I’ve also heard similar things from different people and would love to hear what your thoughts are on this video. https://youtu.be/ONUUvhs1Uuo
