Ceasefire

It’s a funny thing when a struggle ends
and you realise
you’ve forgotten
how not to struggle,
how not to be tense and alert,
how not to constantly scan horizons for enemies;
and
-when a good thing
is looking you in the eye-
how to open your arms
and welcome it.
