What Patience Said To The Beast

If that is so
then let it come from your heart,
not your ego.
Let the genuine and tender be apparent
along the lines, furrows
valleys, plateaus of your face;
and the hairy underbelly of your nature.
Let it be that you could have mined her
for all she’s worth,
then gathered your sharp tools
and left with your workmen.
But instead you allowed the soil to rest,
to hide seeds of love and plenty
until they were ready to see the light of day.

Show her that he exists:
the tame monster,
subdued by a full heart.
